This quintessential Southern novel unveils a stoic narrator in Max Peacock. Max offers glimpses of a partly pragmatic, surreal and spiritual Southern journey back to his roots for his Great Aunt Catfish’s funeral. With flashes of personal, racial, political, and religious struggles, Max offers no easy solutions, but shows that one can come back home, though nothing remains constant.
