A kidnapping case, a ghostly apparition and an amulet that opens a gate to the realm of the uncanny embroils aspiring novelist, Christopher Wayne, in the mysterious disappearance of local prostitutes. His pursuit for the missing girls takes him on a riveting adventure down the backstreets of Boston where he visits churches and brothels, searching for evidence, only to find the missing girls were abducted by an escaped psychopath who has imprisoned them in the dungeons of the old mansion on the island where he lives, practically in his own back yard.
